Arch 2009 begins already

that will be present in ARCH

From February 11 until February 19 we will have the new edition of the fair of Spanish international contemporary art, Arco 2009. With the bogey of the crisis, less galleries and invited countries, Arco 09 will set in shop window from the avant-garde art up to the new tendencies of the contemporary art.

In whole we will have 238 galleries of 32 countries, 79 of Spanish them and with India like the invited country, with the exhibition of the work of 50 artists. The mitigation for Arch 09 will be the presence of artists dedicated like Francis Bacon, Bill Viola, Miquel Barceló and Damien Hirst.

Artistic creation awards Alonso Cano

Alonso Cano invites to inform the University of Granada from the Awards to the Artistic creation. The participants must be university students registered in any of the Spanish universities.

The taking part works can be sculptures, cómic, architecture, photo, design, painting and new technologies. The closing of the contest is from May 11 until May 14, with an award for 1.800 euros for every form.

Since we are of memoirs of the best thing and the worst thing, in Art Spain we have selected 5 facts of the contemporary art of 2008 that he is worth while remembering:

1. This position touches the exhibition Silencis in the Monastery of Siloes, that Carlos Franco assembled 24 Spanish contemporary artists, between them to Antoni Tàpies, José Maria Sicilia, Joan Miró, José Manuel Broto, Esteban Vicente, Miquel Barceló, Cristino de Vera, Susana Solano, Albert Rafols-Casamada, Martin Chirino, Juan Navarro Baldeweg, Sergi Aguilar, Sergio Belinchón, Manuel Rivera, Eduardo Chillida, Manolo Millares, Juan Carlos Savater, Lucio Muñoz, Miguel Ángel Blanco, Carmen Laffón, Gustavo Torner, Xavier Mascaró and Francesc Ruiz. This way 8 years of exhibition were celebrated in Siloes.

2. The exhibition of Elizabeth Peyton in New York, the young and international contemporary artist that more we like, both in the pictorial language and in the subject-matter that it tackles.

3. The exhibition Machines and Souls of the Museum Queen Sophia, who assembled for the first time in this space, to the creators of the contemporary art and the new technologies, beginning a big way for the institutional legitimization of the average art, net art, digital art and vídeoarte.

4. The retrospective of Juan Muñoz in the Guggenheim Bilbao, which there assembled big part of the work of this so valued Spanish artist.

5. The exhibition Works Graph 10 The Country in the gallery Marlborough, with works in artist's engraving as Eduardo Arroyo, José Manuel Broto, Rafael Canogar, Martín Chirino, Juan Genovés, Luis Gordillo, Cristina Iglesias, Antonio López García, Jaume Plensa and Manolo Valdés.

ArtFutura, festival of art and technology

Barcelona is the head office the edition XIX of ArtFutura, the biggest Spanish festival that joins art and new technologies in the same explanatory space. The same one will be able to visit until Sunday, the 26th.

What will we be able to see? In the program, today one emphasizes the exhibition Machines and Souls, which Queen Sophia has already seen in the Museum and takes as a target to recover the design and the digital creativity. The beach animals of Theo Jansen and the head humanoid of David Byrne are some of the examples more impactante of the merger art and new it comes up.

Daniel García Andújar is a born multimedia Spanish artist in Almoradí in the year 1966; at present he lives in Barcelona. His work is focused on the field of the videoarte and of net art and the beginning of his artistic trajectory are located at the end of the eighties.

The acidic and ironic criticism that questions the information society is one of the components that normally it presents in his productions. The reflection on the use of the technology and the recycling of computers also usually appears in his works.

The Catalan author Antoni Muntadas is at present one of the netartistas and videoartistas more out-standing. His work reflects a big human and analytical capacity, doubting diverse social questions; and it demonstrates a special interest in the communication, the system of the world of the art, the social and cultural criticism, the translation of the information and the denunciation. His work is loaded with reflection.

This audio-visual artist is born in Barcelona in the year 1942. He studied Industrial Engineering in the city of Barcelona. In the decade of the seventies he went to live to New York. Muntadas has received numerous awards and scholarships, in addition to having given classes in different universities.

With the name of Z, the Catalan artist Antoni Abad presented in the year 1999 a project for the creation of a network of communication.

It was a question of a computer program in which each one can become a user of Z. A fly is the icon of Z, and the idea is that these genetically only “” flies propagen to will of the user for the network.
