The unformalism is an artistic movement that arose in Europe in the middle of the 40s, like answer to the rigid tendencies of the cubism and the geometric abstraccionismo. The unformalist language was an abstract language in which it was giving priority to the materials as fundamental elements of the work.

The unformalism must be understood like an extended expression of the abstract art and his tendency has yielded fruits in other art styles like the tachonismo and the art espacialista. The unformalist artist is interested in is to explore the expressiveness of the matter.

Without doubts one of the most important Spanish artists of last 70 years of the Spanish art: Antoni Tàpies, the painter of the Spanish unformalism, fulfills today neither more nor less than Aprils 85.

With an exhibition that Soledad Lorenzo celebrates his creation again in the gallery, here our small homage: neither more nor less than his words (in Catalan, but understandable) to approach the figure of eighty years of his work, which has not lost anything of actuality and serves like sample of the contemporary art, that one done with all the letters of his extension and beauty.

The indolence, 1959

This painter and sculptor was born in Toledo in the year 1935. Between 1949 and 1954 he studied with the painter Daniel Vázquez Díaz. Then, between 1957 and 1960 he was a charter member of the group Step.

He is one of the principal representatives of the abstract art in Spain, in his beginning it imitated the style of the cubism of Picasso and of Braque, and of the surrealism of Joan Miró, until it evolved towards the unformalist abstraction. Although it started with the oil on cloth, happening to use other materials like polyester, acrylic, wood and fiberglass, then it incorporated the photo.

Three creus morades, 1997

For my astonishment today I have met on an exhibition that I spent for high: it is a question of the sample of Antoni Tàpies in the gallery Hopscotch.

The works sample that add us at this entry, he gathers pieces mostly from the 80, being few of the 60s, 70s and 90s. The exhibition finishes on December 15, so to do a time to him in the agenda to enjoy Tàpies once again.

BC Contemporary Activity is the title of the exhibition on the magazine of the group Gatepac that you can visit in the National museum Center of Art Queen Sophia.

What will we be able to see? The sample composed by almost 900 pieces, sample across the trip of the magazine, the artistic trip of the group formed in Saragossa, under the name Group of Artists and Spanish Technical staff for the Progress of the Contemporary Architecture (GATEPAC). In the exhibition there are mixed historical, model documents of the magazines, sketches, drawings, lithographies, collages, photomontages, objects of design and movies.

Pablo Picasso, Without Title (Harlequin and Punch), 1924

Lenin Coca-Cola, of Alexander Kosolapov.

Die totale Aufklärung (The entire clarification or the Entire Enlightenment) is the name of this retrospective that assembles the conceptualismo of Moscow in the center of art Schirn de Fráncfort until September 14.

The sample Alexander Kosolapov y Vadim Zakharov assembles 130 works of 30 artists, between them Erik Bulatov, Ilya Kabakov, Vitali Komar, Helen Elagina, that is to say, the artists' group at that they looked with critical eyes to the Soviet Union.

Changes on an impossible figure. 1968. Ordering IBM 1090.

Under the title calculable Forms, in 1969 the first exhibition was realized in Spain of plastic forms generated by computer, marking the precedents of net art in Spain.

The exhibition was born of the Seminar of Automatic Generation of Plastic Forms of the year 1968. Calculable forms it gave place in the Computer center of the University of Madrid, there were carried out the first works in which art and computer fused.
