In this month of Basque sculptors, we must name one of the biggest exponents of the new sculptural generation, as it is Pello Irazu born in Andoain, Guipuzcoa, in 1963. His irruption in the first planes of the art in Spain, happened in the 80s`, and from there his name has not stopped being known in the whole world. With more than 20 years of trajectory, it has exhibited in several rooms both of Spain and of the rest of the world, and the artistic references have always said present, observing along his work different influences, beginning, of course, for Jorge Oteiza, the regarding artist for all the Basque sculptors. But also we can find strong influences of constructivism, of the minimalism, of the conceptual art and of the pop-art, although also we can find several experimentations for other tendencies. But undoubtedly, Irazu is characterized by the philosophy of his works, where it mixes to the perfection the relation of the man with the architecture, capturing it in a sculpture with the materials most adapted for such a reflection. Logically, the skill that he uses also is most adapted to define his creation, investigating in several fields which is most adapted for his target. Between his most out-standing exhibitions, we find “Drawings Germinales“, realized in Sprengel Museum Hannover in Germany (2000); “MIMENDI 308” in the Gallery Soledad Lorenzo of Madrid (2002) and “Home“ developed in Yancey Richardson Gallery of New York (2008).
