Essential Spanish contemporary artists

Today me given for think what Spanish contemporary artists are those who really are doing history and leaving trace in the contemporary art.

Task not easy at all, especially if we think that this following list only corresponds to the subjective taste of a person, but that I will try to base with the production of every artist. Also there is another quandary: what is the contemporary art?

Since small ask since the plastic eclectisismo and the limits of the contemporary art are already not those of other moments of the art, exactly perhaps this freedom of the contemporary art is his biggest treasure and his biggest perdition, because on behalf of the contemporary art sometimes we see every thing, which for God! Interesting the video that he accompanies is ready and tries to explain also the situation of the contemporary art.

Essential Spanish contemporary artists:

Miquel Barceló: although it has given a shot out of the arch with the dome of the UNO, the work of Barceló or he itself as artist they overcome that that we have seen and there is a beauty that has to do with primitive forms seen today from his vision and that is interesting.

Santiago Sierra: the artist who more thrills me of the Spanish ambience. It has all the elements that I consider to be important in the contemporary art: story, form, content, reflection and criticism of the environment that surrounds us.

Eduardo Naranjo: undoubtedly a master of the Spanish, exquisite art in his style provided with a world luck fantasiosamente nostalgic in each of his paintings. A realism to the measurement of the imagination.

Antonio López García: the big master of the Spanish art and the hyper-realism, an artist of those of earlier in his modest attitude before the public. The perfectionism in the work of López García is of an absolute beauty, but that not only it stays in the mere reproduction of the reality that paints, but it her comes out, that goes further away and escapes from us.

Joan Fontcuberta: although he is a photographer, Googlerama de Fontcuberta is undoubtedly a piece that discusses the society of the image, a work of sharp look that fulfills one of the functions of the art: to present a reality to us in critical key.

Juan Genovés: the work in Genoese's sculpture emparenta, to my way of seeing, to the work of videoarte of Viola, in what it is always in discussion is the situation of existence of the subject and the social thing, like fundamental element.

Alberto García Alix: the urban portrait of García Alix is of what I will call a loutish beauty, itself as there appears in the reality, without makeup, visceral, raw, extreme reality of the marginal personages of our society. The irreverent tone of García Alix also is agreeable to the look, much more than the contemporary photo made up ultra.

Of course in this list there are more absences that you attend, but I know that every of these artists, whose trajectory is already consolidated and in full march, it will be a trace in the current Spanish art. Corrections are accepted to the omissions and I hope to know soon the work of young and emergent artists to dedicate a few lines to what comes.

It seems correct to me it is ready. Although as well you say, being something subjective, in my opinion Juan Genovés does not go so far as to be on a par with others. I believe that it is too repetitive in his production and in his speech, going so far as to look alike simplistically.

On the other hand I throw in absence two of the biggest and that are still alive. On one hand the figure of Luis Gordillo is fundamental for his impact in the Spanish art (especially of the 80). And of course, Eduardo Arroyo, one of the most illustrious and sharp minds that I have known in an artist.

Neo Rauch of the sculpture would not forget Francisco Leiro, for his potency, for me, and it would recommend to bear in mind for the future a young Sevillian artist, José Miguel Pereñiguez.

Well it is true that there would be more, or less, but I believe that, on having been some opinable, it can be a dynamic and interesting list.

    Greetings.
