Since you know, The Sun of the Quince is not the only one I fit of Antonio López García, but also a movie of Víctor Erice, inspired by López's painting.

In this video, the sequence in which the Spanish contemporary artist sings along with Enrique Gran. The idea of the movie is simple: to register the painting process to the native of a quince, in full maturation of his fruits.

He interviews Antonio López García

Almost by chance I have met on this interview to Antonio López García, the Spanish artist that more I like, so much for his attitude before the art as for his hyperrealistic painting.

Antonio López García speaks to us about what it moves to the art from his birth, how it does his artistic work, the importance of the urban scenery, the need to take Spain as a topic of the Spanish painting. He speaks about Velázquez and Bacon, with very unlike opinions, in that you can or not to agree.

Essential Spanish contemporary artists

Today me given for think what Spanish contemporary artists are those who really are doing history and leaving trace in the contemporary art.

Task not easy at all, especially if we think that this following list only corresponds to the subjective taste of a person, but that I will try to base with the production of every artist. Also there is another quandary: what is the contemporary art?

Since small ask since the plastic eclectisismo and the limits of the contemporary art are already not those of other moments of the art, exactly perhaps this freedom of the contemporary art is his biggest treasure and his biggest perdition, because on behalf of the contemporary art sometimes we see every thing, which for God! Interesting the video that he accompanies is ready and tries to explain also the situation of the contemporary art.

I walk along the retrospective of Antonio López in Boston

They will say that I have an obsession with the work of Antonio López and perhaps be in the true thing, but what happens the fact is that López me takes a fancy like these ancient artists, these big artists who do his work and not much more, because the humility and simplicity of his person, together with his art, are things of admiring in these times.

We have spoken much of him in this 2008 that happened, but it has been one year of big moments for Antonio López: first the retrospective in the Art museum of Boston, then Madrid from White Towers as the most expensive picture of a living Spanish artist.

For whom they have not seen or not it they have found out about this big artist and his work, here a small reportage of the exhibition in Boston and a walk along the principal works that were seen. Let's hope that in this 2009 podramos to see in Spain a sample so finishes of Antonio López, who by force of being wrong, is one of the Spanish artists somewhat forgotten in his ground. Also neither more nor less than the words of proper Antonio López to understand it to he and his art.

Work of Lucio Muñoz in the exhibition Silencis

Since we are of memoirs of the best thing and the worst thing, in Art Spain we have selected 5 facts of the contemporary art of 2008 that he is worth while remembering:

This way 8 years of exhibition were celebrated in Siloes.

2. The exhibition of Elizabeth Peyton in New York, the young and international contemporary artist that more we like, both in the pictorial language and in the subject-matter that it tackles.

3. The exhibition Machines and Souls of the Museum Queen Sophia, who assembled for the first time in this space, to the creators of the contemporary art and the new technologies, beginning a big way for the institutional legitimization of the average art, net art, digital art and vídeoarte.

4. The retrospective of Juan Muñoz in the Guggenheim Bilbao, which there assembled big part of the work of this so valued Spanish artist.

5. The exhibition Works Graph 10 The Country in the gallery Marlborough, with works in artist's engraving as Eduardo Arroyo, José Manuel Broto, Rafael Canogar, Martín Chirino, Juan Genovés, Luis Gordillo, Cristina Iglesias, Antonio López García, Jaume Plensa and Manolo Valdés.
