He was born in Quesada (Jaen) on November 6, 1907, in the bosom of a well-off bourgeois family. He studied painting, between 1924 and 1932, in the School of Fine arts of San Fernando of Madrid.

In the latter year it took part for the first time in a collective exhibition. One of his works, titled “The Couple”, was selected to illustrate the critical critique of the magazine White and Black.

In 1935 he traveled for the first time to Paris where he studied along with the teachers of the contemporary painting. Two years later he was nominated a Delegate of the National Artistic Treasure; it realized works of protection and recovery of the Patrimony in Valencia, Guadix and Trick.
